[SOLVED] TI LM3421 simulation issues

Location

France
FR

Hi all,

I'm in trouble. I try to run the TI LM3421 simulation examples from the LM3421 page (https://www.ti.com/product/LM3421#design-development##design-tools-simul...) and I get this error:

"ERROR(ORPSIM-16583): Detected an imported model containing transistors or diodes. For such models, PSpice for TI supports a minimum of one and maximum of three traces. Reduce the number of traces and simulate again."

and, it is maybe an other problem but, when I try to edit the simulation settings PSpice crach.

Notes:

  •     That is my first time on PSpice (for TI) but I know LTspice
  •     My PC run Windows 10
  •     I tryed to run some of the basic PSpice examples, I get a simulation result without errors
  •     I tryed to replace the original LM3421 part (lib from the project) by the one from the PSpice library, it still not work
  •     I really hope it is not a TI designer's joke who not use the standard PSpice or TI libraries for all the passive component

Thank you for your help,

Guillaume.

This is from the PSpice-for-TI Datasheet:

"There is no size and/or simulation complexity limitation if the design contains only TI Library
and/or Cadence Behavioral models. There will also be no limitation on the number of signals
being probed by the user when the design has all components from the inbuilt PSpice library
including TI components.

We understand that some designs may require other 3rd party components to be added to the
design. There is no limitation of how many 3rd party models can be imported into the design.
However, if 3rd party models are imported, a user will be able to plot a maximum of 3 signals at a
time of their choice when any 3rd party model is imported from web"

Use the parts from the PSpice-for-TI libraries and you should be OK.  They do include the LM3421.  If you can't, you're restricted to probing 3 signals.

Thank you for your answer retiredEE, it works now !

It was a very stupid thing, characters with an accent in the file path : 'é'.

Everything seemed to works well except for the PSpice calculation and simulation profile editing. It is hard to be french ;-).

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Guillaume.

You mentioned that PSpice crashes when you try to edit simulation settings. This could be due to various

fnaf game reasons, such as software conflicts or system-specific issues.

@slope 3d: Regarding your issue with the TI LM3421 simulation examples, the error message you're receiving indicates that the simulation model you're using contains transistors or diodes, and PSpice for TI has a limit of 1 to 3 traces for such models. The solution is to reduce the number of traces in your simulation and try again. As for the issue with the simulation settings crashing PSpice, this could be due to a compatibility problem or a bug in the software. Since you mentioned that you're new to PSpice, it might be worth trying the following:Ensure that you're using the latest version of PSpice for TI and that your system meets the minimum requirements.
Try running the simulation examples provided by TI without modifying the settings to see if the issue persists.
If the problem continues, you may need to contact TI support for further assistance.
